This spring we had the pleasure of contracting out a deck with Kyle and his team at Thunderstruck Restorations. It all started out when an 80ft oak fell in our back yard right onto our deck. After contacting our insurance company, I called and made an appointment for an estimate, which was completed within days of calling. When I asked Kyle to be present for the insurance appraiser he agreed without question and spoke on our behalf, considering we were unfamiliar with deck construction and general building regulations. After completing our insurance claim, the team worked with us on pricing and design that best suited our needs, and was very understanding with our several design changes at the beginning of the process. (We were able to size up and go with aluminum spindles!) They took care of all the paperwork with the city and made everything as timely as possible with their already busy schedule. The only hiccup we ran into was when the city blue prints showed our septic tank in the wrong spot forcing us to shift the numbers of footing and install a larger beam for support. Through all of this, the team was communicative with the delays, processes, and very reasonable with the pricing adjustment. Once all the building supplies were in order, the deck went up so quickly - working around the random Minnesota weather, it really only took about a week. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the service we received and were more impressed with the communication and the transparency during the process. We never felt out of the loop, and everything was always thoroughly explained to whichever one of us was home at the time. And of course we have to mention the craftsmanship of the deck: it’s exactly what we wanted, but better; the attention to detail and care making sure everything was straight, lined up, etc - it’s seriously perfect. They had to replace a couple pieces of siding underneath where the old deck had ruined some, and the pieces are blended in so well. Honestly, the deck feels too nice for this 40 year old house. We’ll definitely be calling Thunderstruck again for any future projects.

Kyle and his team did a great job designing and building our deck expansion project. This project included building to code to support an elevated hot tub. We are very happy with the final product and definitely recommend them.

We were referred to Thunderstruck by our neighbor who had their deck redone 4 years ago and it still looks great. Our old deck was falling apart and we needed more space, so we hired them to do a complete rebuild with new footings and all new materials. Kyle was very helpful walking us through the options for materials (we were choosing between composite and cedar) and the pros and cons of each. We ultimately decided on cedar and couldn't be happier with the final product. Kyle and his team were able to execute our design ideas with great craftsmanship and even came up with a very functional landing due to the unique slope in our backyard. ThunderStruck took on 3 projects for me this summer. 1) replacing the decking, rails, and stabilizing our two tier deck in the back yard, 2) building a new porch deck on the front of our house and 3) some landscaping work re-rocking the space under the deck, adding a retaining wall, and setting up a fire pit patio. The crew that did the work was first rate, professional and listened to my thoughts ideas and concerns on the project. They did a great job on both the construction projects and the landscaping work.
